Absa Launches Digital Asset Custody With Ripple

Absa Corporate and Investment Banking, the corporate and investment arm of one of Africa’s largest banking groups, launched Absa Digital Asset Custody on Monday, going live with an institutional platform for safekeeping digital assets built on Ripple’s custody technology.

Announced by Absa CIB on X as “a digital first for Africa, built to institutional standards,” the rollout comes roughly eleven months after the bank first unveiled its partnership with Ripple in October 2025.

Bank-Grade Custody for Institutions The platform gives institutional clients a regulated environment to safeguard digital assets and manage private keys to institutional standards.

Absa describes the service as covering safekeeping, key control, approval controls and audit trails, a vault rather than a trading venue.
