Base App Is Coinbase Wallet Again: Will Traders Notice?

Coinbase has restored the Coinbase Wallet name to the platform it renamed Base App in July 2025, ending a one-year attempt to turn a crypto wallet into a social network.

The app now points at leveraged bets, prediction markets and tokenized shares across more than 10 blockchain networks. The Social Bet Ended Months Before the Name Did The rename closes a pivot that began much earlier.

BeInCrypto reported the trading-first pivot in January, eight months before the branding caught up. Base is Coinbase’s own blockchain network, launched in 2023. The 2025 rename put that network’s name on the consumer app, alongside a feed, messaging and mini apps.

Base creator Jesse Pollak handed the app back to Coinbase in July and called his on-chain social bet a failure. lots of conversations about base over the last week.
