Cardano’s x402 Facilitator Is Tested, But Mainnet Awaits

Following the latest Cardano news, the Foundation has published a native facilitator for the x402 protocol, the emerging standard that repurposes the old HTTP 402 “Payment Required” status code to let software pay for services in real time.

The implementation, documented on GitHub as an x402 v2 facilitator written in Java, lets a resource server quote a price, a client settle it in ADA or a Cardano native token, and the server hand over the data or service once payment clears.

The one working demonstration on record ran end-to-end on Cardano’s preprod test network, with a real on-chain transaction confirming the flow. Nothing in the repository has been executed against mainnet.
