Coreum Cross-Chain Bridge Exploited, Nearly 200K XRP Stolen
BitcoinWorld Coreum Cross-Chain Bridge Exploited, Nearly 200K XRP Stolen On August 9, a cross-chain bridge connecting the Coreum network to the XRP Ledger was exploited, resulting in the theft of approximately 199,916 XRP.
The attack, which occurred over a roughly 97-minute window, drained nearly all XRP held on the bridge, leaving a balance of just 493.5 XRP. The incident was first reported by Crypto Briefing.
Attack Details and Impact According to the report, the attacker did not breach the XRP Ledger itself or compromise any private keys. Instead, the exploit targeted a vulnerability in the bridge’s deposit verification system.
The attacker was able to trick the system into recognizing fake deposits as legitimate, which then triggered the release of XRP from the bridge’s reserves.
