MoonPay Wins Dutch EMI License for Stablecoin Issuance

MoonPay said on Sept. 8 that its European business received an Electronic Money Institution license from the Dutch Central Bank.

The authorization gives the crypto payments company a regulated basis to add payment accounts, related payment services and stablecoin issuance from the Netherlands.

The company announcement presents the license as an expansion of MoonPay Europe’s existing regulatory position rather than the launch of a finished product.

MoonPay did not provide release dates, pricing or eligibility details for the accounts, stablecoins or cards it plans to develop.
