OCEAN to Compensate Miners After Hash Rate Diverted to BIP-110 Chain for 18 Hours
BitcoinWorld OCEAN to Compensate Miners After Hash Rate Diverted to BIP-110 Chain for 18 Hours Bitcoin mining pool OCEAN has acknowledged that a portion of its miners’ hash rate was unintentionally directed to the BIP-110 chain for approximately 18 hours, and the pool has committed to compensating affected users.
The incident, which was first reported by Bitcoin News, has drawn sharp criticism from some miners who claim the pool effectively diverted customer hash rate to support the struggling BIP-110 chain without prior consent.
What Happened and How OCEAN Is Responding OCEAN, known for its focus on transparent and decentralized mining practices, said the misdirection occurred due to a configuration error that caused the pool’s default connection settings to route hash rate to the BIP-110 chain.
The pool has since restored the default connection to the legacy Bitcoin chain, and miners can now manually choose between the legacy chain and the BIP-110 chain.
