The transfers, traced back to 2018, are tied to an entity that U.S. prosecutors accuse of orchestrating hacking-for-hire campaigns on behalf of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other clients.

Mabna Institute’s Alleged Role in Cyber Operations According to TRM Labs, the Mabna Institute functioned as a front for cyber intrusion activities, with members allegedly targeting sensitive networks across multiple sectors. U.S.

authorities have charged 17 individuals associated with the group, with five specifically linked to the 2017 HBO data breach. In that incident, hackers demanded roughly $6 million in Bitcoin, and TRM Labs says some of the tracked addresses were used to receive ransom payments.
